New Years Day Club Fun Run (5K)

Postby PG Joyner on Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:28 pm

We will be pressed to do a full blown 5K with insurance and prizes by Jan 1. My thought was to advertise it as a Club Fun Run/Walk in the Rolla Daily News. Start at Mcdonald's to the Dog food plant and back.

Thoughts and comments are welcome.

I assume the McDonalds/Dog Food Plant route doesn't involve crossing Kingshighway? Is there some reason you don't want to use the 5K route from The Centre? At least that way there would be a big area for parking, etc. Also, can you briefly explain the insurance issue (ie, full 5k vs. a "fun run")?

5K Fun Run

Postby PG Joyner on Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:33 pm

Traditionally that was the Fred Nelson route and they would to McDonalds after the run.

There is a big parking lot across from McDonalds. We would only cross Kingshighway going to McDonalds after the run.

Insurance issue - $60.00 to join USA Track and Field, then $70.00 for up to 100 runners.

Here were my thoughts. This year have a club fun run/walk to set the record. (maybe donation bucket?) Then next year full blown 5K run/walk to break the record with prizes and all. Plus we will have more time to prepare.

What do you think?

Sounds good! Do we need to start working on details now or is there time to wait til the next club meeting?
